European Training Network on Full Parallax Imaging network’s training activities started last week in the UK with the first training school, 3D Displays and the Human Visual System (organized by Newcastle University), also giving a chance to the first eight early stage researchers of the network to meet up.
The Newcastle training school, led by experts around the world, was concentrated on the basic anatomy and physiology of the human eye and visual areas of the brain, eye muscles and eye movements, foundations of psychophysics, visual cues to depth (and what happens when they conflict), pros and cons of different 3D technologies and current applications such as robot-assisted surgery.
The Newcastle training school will be followed by five similar events, – each focusing on different topic – during 2016-2019. The next one, Optical foundations of Full Parallax Imaging, will take place at University of Valencia in September 2016.
