Tell something about yourself?
I am Gabriele Scrofani from Sicily, Italy. I did my bachelor and master studies in the Polytechnic University of Milan.
During my bachelor I studied Biomedical Engineering, and for my master I studied Electronic Engineering. During my studies I spent two periods abroad in Melbourne, Australia and Barcelona, Spain.
I do love travelling and trying new experiences and I like water-sports like waterpolo and surfing. My academic interests are optics and optoelectronic, I like light and the use of it to extract information.
Why did you apply to ETN-FPI project?
I like the topic of the research project, and I decided to apply for it because I believe in its potentialities. The way it is organised shows a great effort to build a strong network. The fact that it is based on a community of many research groups of different academic and non-academic entities offers a great opportunity to collaborate to the growth of new ideas.
What kind of expectations do you have for your research project and network training?
Thanks to this opportunity I hope to achieve good results and to collaborate in the creation of the next step generation in 3D microscopic imaging. Nonetheless, I hope to strengthen my knowledges in this area thanks to my work effort and to the network of researchers I will interact with, willing to make a step forward in this research area.
Gabriele Scrofani is based in University of Valencia 2016-2019, and his research project “Plenoptic Microscopy and pure-phase object sensing” is linked to Work package 1.
